Ceremonial Opening of the Renovated Memorial Room of Maj. Pilot Jerzy Iszkowski

Today the reopening of the renovated Memorial Room took place at the Primary School named after Major Pilot Jerzy Iszkowski in Tęgoborze. Major Pilot Jerzy Iszkowski is one of the heroes of Polish aviation. An officer of the Polish Army and the Home Army, pilot and Silent Unseen paratrooper, holder of the Virtuti Militari Order, persecuted after the end of World War II.

On November 21, 1991, the famous pilot was chosen as patron of the Primary School in Tęgoborze, and a Memorial Room dedicated to Jerzy Iszkowski was established there.

This year, with the support of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, the school’s Memorial Room underwent a thorough renovation. The exhibition space was equipped with new information boards and new exhibits, including Iszkowski’s decorations (partly replicas), binoculars, a side cap, new photographs, and documents. This is one of the initiatives undertaken by the Museum as part of the “Home Museums” project.
