On Friday, 17 October, the ceremonial finale of the nationwide art competition “Magic of Flight – Wings of Hope” took place at the Małopolska Cultural Centre Sokół in Nowy Sącz. For several years now, this competition has been inspiring children and young people to engage in artistic reflections on the phenomenon of flight, freedom and dreams of the sky. As in previous years, the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków took the event under its patronage and actively participated in its finale.
This year’s edition attracted hundreds of young creators from across Poland, who in their works depicted not only the beauty of aviation, but also its symbolic dimension – hope, freedom and transcending boundaries. Among the guests gathered in Nowy Sącz were representatives of the artistic community, teachers, supervisors and competition participants, as well as event partners.
Museum Director Tomasz Kosecki took part in the ceremony, congratulating the laureates and distinguished participants, emphasising that aviation is not only technology and engineering, but also a source of constant inspiration for art, imagination and humanity’s dreams of freedom.
As part of the finale event, staff from our Museum conducted educational workshops on building plywood aircraft models for the participants. Young artists could create miniature aviation structures with their own hands, while learning the basic principles of aerodynamics and the history of Polish aviation. The workshops enjoyed enormous interest and were an excellent complement to the artistic character of the competition.
All award-winning and distinguished works will soon be on display in Kraków – in the spaces of the Main Hangar of the Polish Aviation Museum. The temporary exhibition will open at the end of November 2025 and will allow visitors to discover how the young generation perceives the “magic of flight” – with passion, sensitivity and artistic courage.
We cordially invite you to visit the Museum and jointly admire the extraordinary imagination of young artists. Their works are not only a testament to talent, but also proof that the idea of flight – fascinating to humankind for centuries – continues to inspire and connect generations.
In the meantime, we invite you to view the photo report from the finale, which took place at the Małopolska Cultural Centre SOKÓŁ:
