KOBED, the Heritage Security Congress (Kongres Bezpieczeństwa Dziedzictwa), is an event primarily aimed at professionals and scholars involved in the protection and security of cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. However, the congress participants include not only monument conservators and employees of cultural institutions, but also owners, managers, and custodians of historic properties, representatives of uniformed services, lawyers, academics, students, and attendees of military schools and universities. The event brings together individuals involved in the protection and security of historic buildings, as well as specialists in the field of internal security, civil protection, and civil defence.
May 14, 2024, marks the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Convention, one of the most important international documents providing protection for cultural heritage. This approaching anniversary inspires the KOBED organizers to engage a broad audience in discussions on the practical implementation of heritage protection in the event of crises and armed conflict, within the framework of the 2nd Heritage Security Congress.
The congress is organized by: the Institute of Heritage Security, the Polish Naval Academy named after the Heroes of Westerplatte, Wawel Royal Castle — State Art Collections, the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, and the City of Gdynia, together with Partners representing the most important institutions in the country.
