The Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, together with the Scout Aviation and Space Modelling Club in Kraków and the 19th KLDH “Słoneczne Drogi” (Sunny Paths) Scout Group named after Żwirko and Wigura, once again organised the Kite Festival, which took place on 11 November 2024 on the runway of the Rakowice-Czyżyny airfield next to the Museum.

During the Kite Festival, participants met representatives of our Museum’s Model Workshop, who provided information about the organised classes. The Model Workshop offers regular workshops for children and young people over 10 years of age, held on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM (younger group) and 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (older group). Model Workshop participants create various interesting flying models.

During the Kite Festival, participants took part in a kite competition. They competed in the following classes:

  • FLP – flat kites,
  • FLS – box kites

Kites had to be made of wood (excluding balsa) and paper. The use of plastics for covering was permitted. The kite line length had to be between 50 and 80 metres. The line could not be made of wire, metal cable or any other conductive material.

Each competitor could enter 2 kites in a given class, marked with the letters A and B and the competitor’s initials.
The assessment of each kite, carried out by the judging panel, consisted of a static assessment and a flight assessment.
