On Sunday, 14 December 2025, the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków was filled with the sounds of the oldest Małopolska carols and pastorals. The concert “Oj, stało nom się wesele!” — the fruit of cooperation between the Museum, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice and the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice — took listeners on a unique historical-musical journey, ushering in the atmosphere of the approaching Christmas season.

The Museum space, normally associated with the fascinating history of aviation, that day was transformed into a stage for music rooted in local heritage. Among the aviation exhibits, carols and pastorals preserved both in the archives of the Ethnographic Museum and in the memory of residents of villages near Kraków rang out. Traditional melodies carried stories from generations past, creating a unique dialogue between history and living culture.

The audience had the pleasure of hearing two unique interpretations of the pieces. The group Kumoszki i Gospodarze” presented the works in their traditional form. In turn, the Polish Radio Choir – Lusławice performed artistic and modern carol arrangements, prepared specially for the occasion. This juxtaposition of tradition with a contemporary approach created a fascinating musical dialogue.

The programme featured pieces such as “Mizerna cicha” (arr. S. Rzepiela), “Gore gwiazda” (arr. I. Vrublevskyi) and the titular “Oj, stało nom sie wesele” (arr. S. Rzepiela). The concert was also enriched by traditional carolling performed by young men, accompanied by the heligonka accordion characteristic of the region. The singers were accompanied by a lively Kraków folk band, adding an authentic folk flavour to the event.

Polish Aviation Museum — co-organiser of the event

We warmly thank all the artists and the audience for their presence and for jointly creating a unique, festive atmosphere. The concert “Oj, stało nom się wesele!” proved that the Polish Aviation Museum is a place open to diverse forms of art. The combination of music, tradition and the exceptional historical space created an event that will remain in the memory of its participants for a long time.
