On Sunday 16 March 2025 at 6:00 PM, an exceptional concert by the Wind Orchestra of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków took place in the Main Building of the Polish Aviation Museum, conducted by Jarosław Ignaszak and Chris David Westover-Muñoz.

The Polish Aviation Museum has been involved for years in promoting young talents and combining art with aviation history. Following the successful collaboration at the Kraków Cello Spring 2024, in 2025 we again had the honour of being a partner for a spring musical event organised by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.

The programme featured outstanding works of contemporary music, including:

  • “Music for Prague 1968” by Karel Husa – regarded as one of the most important works for wind orchestra,
  • “Seventh Symphony (Liturgical)” by Vincent Persichetti – the world premiere of the version for wind orchestra,
  • “Pittsburgh Overture” by Krzysztof Penderecki – the only work by the Academy’s Patron for a large wind ensemble, performed in Poland for only the second time,
  • “Plea for Peace” by Augusta Read Thomas and “Lacrimosa” by Witold Lutosławski – in special arrangements for this concert.
