The Main Building of the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków was once again filled with music. On Saturday, 28 March 2026, at 6.00 pm, there was a concert of Wind Orchestra of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.

The ‘Musical Fantasy’ concert is next musical event in this year at the Polish Aviation Museum, organised in collaboration with the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków. This time music was inspired by legends and the world of fantasy.

The programme included compositions such as ‘Bridge of the Gods’, inspired by tales from the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, telling of disputes between gods and the destruction of a stone bridge over the Columbia River, as well as ‘Fantasy for Piano and Wind Instruments’, which was inspired by the works of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The highlight was Johan de Meij’s Symphony No. 1 “The Lord of the Rings” – an elaborate work inspired by the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, consisting of five movements that musically depict the characters and places familiar from the world of Middle-earth.

Programme of the concert

  • J. Curnow – Bridge of the Gods
  • C. Fields – Fantasy for Piano and Wind Instruments
  • J. de Meij – Symphony No. 1 ‘The Lord of the Rings’

The Academy of Music Wind Orchestra performed conducted by Jarosław Ignaszak. The evening was further enhanced by a piano performance from Karolina Krupa – a participant in numerous national and international festivals and a graduate of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.

We would like to thank all the artists and the audience for joining us. We are delighted that the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków has once again become a venue for an intimate encounter with music – this time taking the audience far beyond the horizons of the imagination. Previously, we have had the pleasure of hosting concerts such as: „The Firebird”, „Oh, Tidings of Joy Are Ours!”, or „Sonus Colorum”.
