At the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, we began celebrating Grandparents’ Day in a special, extended format. As part of this year’s celebrations, we prepared guided tours of the exhibition, during which participants discovered fascinating stories of Polish aviation. Creative workshops also awaited grandparents and grandchildren, where they could actively take part in creating their own keepsakes. It was a perfect opportunity to spend time in an intergenerational atmosphere of joy, creativity and a passion for aviation.
This year’s Grandparents’ Day celebrations at the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków began with guided tours of the new permanent exhibition “With the Wind and Against the Wind — Civil Aviation”. Grandmothers, grandfathers and grandchildren had the opportunity to jointly discover the history of Polish civil aviation — from its pioneering beginnings to modern achievements in the field of air sports, design and commercial operations. Participants had the chance to walk through the impressive exhibition, where they could learn how Polish civil aviation developed from its pioneering beginnings to contemporary achievements in the field of air sports, design and commercial operations. The joint tour became not only an opportunity to learn about history, but also a chance for intergenerational conversations.
The joint Grandparents’ Day celebrations continued on 24 and 25 January 2026. On those days, creative workshops were held, specially prepared for grandmothers, grandfathers and grandchildren. Sessions ran in parallel in two groups. Grandfathers together with their grandchildren tried their hand at model-building workshops, during which — under the guidance of educators — they assembled wooden aircraft models, which they then took home as a keepsake of the time spent together. Grandmothers with their grandchildren, meanwhile, participated in art workshops, creating aviation motifs and transferring them onto fabric bags, which became a unique, personal souvenir from the day.
We thank all participants for taking part in the events and for the time spent together — these were days full of smiles, conversations and intergenerational closeness, which allowed beautiful memories to be made.
