During the dates of July 8–12, July 15–19, and August 26–30, three sessions of the Summer on Wings day camps took place at the Polish Aviation Museum. It was an intensive time full of great fun!

Mondays

The beginning of each session was a time for getting to know each other, bonding and exploring the Museum. This was followed by a short talk about balloons, after which the participants had the opportunity to make their own balloon baskets. At the end of the day, there was time for active games and the everyone’s favourite aviation-themed Mafia game.

Tuesdays

Gliwice Aero Club

At the Aero Club, participants witnessed glider launches. After leaving the airfield, they built their own flying models, learned about parachute jumping and were able to feel like real pilots in a simulator!

Silesian Planetarium

At the Planetarium, we visited the interactive exhibition “Geophysics”, covering seismology and meteorology. Participants experienced a simulated earthquake, saw and heard real lightning, and witnessed the formation of clouds and precipitation. In addition, thanks to special chambers, they were momentarily transported to other climatic zones. They saw what the Earth and other planets look like, and even presented a weather forecast!

Wednesdays

Wednesdays began with an active walk through the Polish Aviators Park. Participants got to know the animals living there better, and after returning to the Museum, they took part in a crossword puzzle. Then everyone had the chance to create their own model and decorate it using their imagination. After an intensive day, we watched an aviation film in the cinema.

Thursdays

On Thursdays, participants visited the Living Obwarzanek Museum in Kraków. There they had the chance to create their own obwarzanki (traditional Kraków pretzels) in the shape of aeroplanes. After returning, they took part in an outdoor game and played with a Klanza parachute. It turned out that everyone was a little cinema enthusiast, so we watched a film again, and at the very end of the day we played charades.

Fridays

The last day began with a bit of competition in glider contests. After the winners were announced, everyone had the opportunity to create their own unique bag. Then we met with Mr Leszek Mańkowski, who introduced us to parachutes and shared his experiences. To conclude the day camp, participants took part in a water battle that closed the session.

It was a wonderful time, which we hope all participants will remember fondly. See you at the winter day camps!
