Today we officially opened the exhibition dedicated to the history of L.O.P.P. — one of the most important Polish aviation institutions of the interwar period. The Air Defense League of the State, from 1928 known as the Air and Anti-Gas Defense League, was the largest paramilitary organization in the history of Poland, with 2 million members in 1939, and laid the foundations of today’s aviation.
The event opening the vernissage began at 11:00 AM in the Museum’s conference hall. Director Tomasz Kosecki welcomed the numerous guests and gave a brief introduction on L.O.P.P.’s activities and the enormous impact this organization had on the development of today’s Polish aviation. The audience then listened to Leszek Zakrzewski, President of the Polish Historical Society, Nowy Sącz Branch, who delivered an hour-long lecture on the history of L.O.P.P.
After a brief reception, all those gathered moved from the Main Building to the Main Hangar. There, on the mezzanine, the official opening of the exhibition took place. Ewa Cuber-Strutyńska — Chief Collections Registrar and Head of the Collections Department — spoke about the process of creating the exhibition. After her, Jarosław Dobrzyński took the microphone and guided the audience through the exhibition.
