On the first weekend of July (5–6 July 2025), the Polish Aviation Museum had the honour of once again taking an active part in the Nowy Targ Air Show – one of the most picturesque aviation events in Poland. This year’s edition was exceptional not only because of the beautiful weather and the crowds of visitors, but also thanks to our flying exhibits, which proudly displayed themselves against the backdrop of the majestic Tatra Mountains.
The audience could admire our flying exhibits in the air: the Yak-18, Piper Cub, the legendary An-2 “Wiedeńczyk”, as well as – a replica of the Wrona (Crow) glider! This historic training glider played an extremely important role in aviation education before World War II, and its reconstruction, made with attention to historical detail, aroused enormous interest and enthusiasm among the audience.
There was no shortage of ground attractions either – our promotional and educational stand enjoyed great interest. The youngest visitors could take part in master paper aeroplane folding workshops, plywood model building (with a full set of tools and instructors), as well as numerous aviation games and activities. Older visitors showed great interest in our outdoor temporary exhibition devoted to the 2nd Gliding Competition at Oksywie in 1925, which offered a fascinating look at the beginnings of Polish gliding.
At the stand, visitors could also stock up on museum publications, souvenirs and aviation gadgets, and our staff enthusiastically answered questions about the museum collection and the upcoming opening of the new permanent exhibition “With the Wind and Against the Wind – Civil Aviation”, which will take place on 24 August during Polish Aviation Day.
We thank everyone who visited our stand and watched our machines in the air! Participating in the air show was another opportunity for us to meet aviation enthusiasts and promote the heritage of Polish Wings.
