A new exhibition at the Museum — vernissage on November 28. On November 28 this year, the Polish Aviation Museum invites you to the vernissage of an exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of one of the most important aviation institutions of the interwar period.

The Air Defense League of the State, from 1928 known as the Air and Anti-Gas Defense League (L.O.P.P.) was the largest paramilitary organization in the history of Poland, with 2 million members in 1939. L.O.P.P. was involved in the broad development and popularization of aviation — it built airfields, training centers, parachute towers, model-building workshops, organized competitions, published materials, and also funded the purchase of aviation equipment, scientific research, and trained the population for defense against aerial and chemical attacks.

Notably, the League funded its activities through citizens’ contributions, significantly contributing to the growth of awareness and popularity of aviation in Polish society during the interwar period. It is worth mentioning that many heroic Polish pilots of World War II began their adventure with aviation through L.O.P.P.
