VI Rally of Vintage Gliders with the Participation of the Polish Aviation Museum

DURATION:05 / 09 / 2025 - 07 / 09 / 2025

Last weekend, 5–7 September 2025, another edition of the Vintage Glider Rally at Litwinka in Czarna Góra took place, with the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków as a partner. This exceptional event has for years attracted aviation enthusiasts, history lovers, as well as residents of Podhale and the entire Małopolska region, who want to see with their own eyes what the beginnings of gliding sport in Poland looked like.

The traditional format of the event harks back to the first competitions from over a century ago – participants launch vintage gliders from a slope using rubber bungee cords pulled by volunteers. In this year’s edition, visitors could admire both classic designs such as Grunau Baby IIb, Mucha, Foka, Salamandra and Bocian, as well as modern gliders demonstrated in the air by renowned pilots. At the end of the rally, spectators had the opportunity to watch an air show featuring historic and aerobatic aircraft.

The Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, as event partner, proudly joined this year’s edition. Our promotional stand enjoyed great interest – the many visitors had the opportunity to learn more about our activities and about the new permanent exhibition “With the Wind and Against the Wind – Civil Aviation”, where visitors can admire the most interesting Polish glider designs in comfortable museum conditions.

Director of the Polish Aviation Museum, Tomasz Kosecki, was also present at Litwinka, representing our institution during meetings and conversations with participants. An additional attraction was the participation in the air displays of our flying exhibit – the Piper Cub aircraft, which aroused great interest from the audience.

The Rally at Litwinka, organised on the initiative of the Nowy Targ Aero Club, is an event that not only recalls the beginnings of gliding in Poland, but also brings the aviation community together and promotes technical heritage in the extraordinary scenery of Podhale. We are delighted that as a partner we could co-create this exceptional initiative, and we are already eagerly looking forward to the next edition.
