On 1 August 2025 at 17:00, as every year, the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków joined the nationwide commemorations of the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising.
Precisely at “W” Hour – the symbolic moment of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising – an air raid siren sounded in front of the Museum building. The sound of the siren momentarily halted everyday life and prompted all those gathered to reflect. Together, we paid tribute to the Warsaw Insurgents and the crews of Allied aircraft who risked their lives to deliver weapons, ammunition and medicine to the fighting capital.
Firefighters from the State Fire Service participated in the event, arriving with their vehicles. Their presence was an expression of remembrance and respect for the Insurgents, and also lent the commemorations a special dimension. We thank everyone for sharing this symbolic moment together.
Each participant received a special edition of the “Polska Zbrojna” one-day newspaper, prepared on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
From 1 August, for the next 63 days – as long as the Uprising lasted – flags bearing the Fighting Poland symbol will fly in front of the Museum’s Main Building, reminding visitors of the Insurgents’ steadfastness, sacrifice and determination.
