We invite children aged 8-11 to an extraordinary aviation adventure! On 27-31 January 2025, the “Winter Aviation Expedition” will take place – a unique winter day camp during which young participants will discover the fascinating world of aviation and technology.

What makes aeroplanes fly even though they are so heavy? How does a glider differ from an aeroplane and how long can it stay in the air? What is a flying ace and could you become one too?… We will try to find answers to these and many other questions during the winter holidays organised at the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków!

Weekly schedule of the Winter Aviation Expedition day camp

A unique guided tour of the Aviation Museum – a story you haven’t heard before!

Every exhibit in our Museum hides an extraordinary story – thanks to the guided tour, you will hear the most fascinating facts, notice incredible details that others walk past indifferently, view aircraft from the outside and inside, and have the opportunity to practise your aim on a simulator.

Physics of Flight Workshop

You will learn about basic aircraft such as gliders, aeroplanes, helicopters and balloons, and find out why they fly. You will try your hand at flying polystyrene gliders and spinning propellers. You will see in person the machines you previously heard about during the classes. An additional attraction will be seeing one of the aircraft from the inside!

Outdoor game: Aviation Treasure Hunters

You will discover the secrets of Museum treasures in a unique outdoor game! You will take on the role of seekers of the most valuable aviation exhibits. Your task will be to find certain precious machines based on riddles. You will test your skills – perhaps one of you will earn the honourable title of sky ace! Ready for the challenge?

Space Constructors Workshop

Who among you dreams of discovering new planets, intergalactic travels and searching for alien civilisations? To achieve this, you need above all passion, imagination and… a rocket! You will build it yourself from cardboard elements and decorate it to inspire admiration across the entire Milky Way! The workshops will be complemented by a meeting with a Special Guest, who will tell you about space – only interesting stuff!

Trips

During the Aviation Expedition, we will go on two trips to partner cultural institutions:

  • At the Home Army Museum, we will play a large-format historical board game – you may be surprised by an assassination attempt, a round-up or an attack on a post! In a team competition on a giant board measuring 7×7 metres, you will take an unusual walk through the streets of occupied Kraków.
  • At the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, you will take part in origami workshops.

Model-making workshops (wooden models)

You will create your own wooden models of aeroplanes or helicopters! Under the guidance of educators, you will learn the secrets of model-making and perhaps discover a new passion.

Art workshop – my aviation symbol

During a short guided tour of the Museum exhibition, you will discover unique markings on flying machines. Then, during creative art workshops, you will create your own aviation symbols, which you will transfer onto fabric bags – you will take them home as a unique souvenir from the holidays.

Reserve a place today and give your child an unforgettable winter adventure!
