One of the most important elements of the Night of Museums 2026 at the Polish Aviation Museum will be the opening of the outdoor board exhibition “Sky Rescuers”, dedicated to air rescue services and formations that use aircraft every day to provide assistance, save lives, and conduct search and evacuation operations.

The exhibition will present the history, missions, and daily service of units using aviation in rescue operations – both civilian and military. Numerous original, often unique photographs will be displayed documenting operations conducted in the mountains, at sea, during natural disasters, catastrophes, and medical missions.

The units on display include:

  • Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue Service (TOPR),
  • Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue Service (GOPR),
  • Air Ambulance Service (LPR),
  • Police Aviation,
  • Border Guard,
  • State Fire Service,
  • Navy Aviation,
  • Search and Rescue Groups,
  • Medical Evacuation Team of the 8th Krakow Airlift Base.

The exhibition shows not only specialized machines and rescue techniques, but above all people – pilots, rescuers, doctors and crew members, whose professionalism, courage and readiness to act often decide about human lives.

The presented photographic materials will allow visitors to take a behind-the-scenes look at rescue operations conducted in the most demanding conditions – from high-altitude cliffs and avalanches, to flood relief operations, maritime SAR operations, and medical transports carried out as part of “Operation Heart.”

The exhibition will open during the 2026 Night of Museums at the Polish Aviation Museum on May 15, 2026. On that evening, the exhibition will be on display in the Main Building of the Museum and will then be moved to the mezzanine of Hangar No. 5, where it will be on display until June 15, 2026.
