Since 17 May, the Main Hangar of the Polish Aviation Museum has been displaying memorabilia of aviation mechanic Eugeniusz Lisicki, who served in No. 300 Polish Bomber Squadron “Ziemi Mazowieckiej” (Land of Masovia). These memorabilia are exhibited as part of the permanent exhibition “Wings and People of the 20th Century”, dedicated to the history of aviation in Poland and around the world from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The memorabilia were kept by the pilot’s widow, Mrs Jolanta Lisicka, who decided to donate them to our Museum. Among the items we received are:
We invite you to visit the Museum to see archival photographs and memorabilia of Eugeniusz Lisicki — testimonies of an extraordinary journey from Rowne to the skies of England.
Eugeniusz Lisicki (born 08.12.1919, died 18.08.2009) was an aircraft mechanic who graduated from the NCO Aviation School for Minors in Bydgoszcz in 1938. Shortly afterwards, he was assigned to the 4th Aviation Regiment in Torun as an aircraft mechanic in the Training Squadron. After the defeat of the September Campaign, he made his way through Romania, the Black Sea, and France to Great Britain. He received RAF service number 780111 and was posted as an aircraft mechanic to No. 300 Polish Bomber Squadron, where he served for the entire duration of the war. After the end of hostilities, he remained in Great Britain.
We sincerely thank Mrs Jolanta Lisicka, whose generosity has enabled the exhibited memorabilia to enrich the Museum’s collections.
